Advancing and promoting legal knowledge about IT through research and education
The Centre for IT & IP Law at the Faculty of Law is part of KU Leuven, the largest Belgian academic institution. IT & IP Law is dedicated to advancing and promoting legal knowledge about the information society through research and teaching of the highest quality in the areas of Data Privacy and Information Security Law, New Media and Communications Law, Information Rights Management and Intellectual Property law.
In CLARUS, legal experts from KUL have played a significant role in ensuring compliance with privacy and security legislation. CiTiP has advanced its knowledge on the compliance of cloud computing services, like the one proposed by the CLARUS project, with the European legal framework on data protection and cloud computing.
This research serves to expand existing knowledge while establishing and expanding KU Leuven-CiTiP’s spheres of competence in these fields of law.
